A New York Escorts Confessions

New Yangeleno?

I’m writing this on the airplane, somewhere between both coasts, limbo-land, neither there nor here. I’m thinking philosophically, I guess. Bear with me.

You go to a different place, and you always wonder if or how you see yourself in it, you know? I know who I am in New York. And in LA? Am I someone different?

I always find when I go to another city that I’m doing the comparison thing. Bucktown in Chicago is a gentrifying Greenwich Village. Venice Beach is the East Village with surf and sand. New York always figures in it. It’s my point of reference, my compass.

I like Silverlake because I can see the city in it. There’s a rough and tumble there that I completely feel comfortable with and familiar in. But Santa Monica? The nice part where all those big, beautiful houses are? It feels like suburbia. Is that what people like about it? Is that what they mean by “quality of life”? I don’t know. It makes me feel restless instead of content.

I loved hanging at Deena’s place on Manhattan Beach. Yes, there’s something totally sublime about getting up and hearing the ocean. And then being able to walk there in two minutes. And just hang and read a book and take a quick dip when the heat is too much. But the commercial section? It’s a little too vanilla beach town for me.

I liked the reality of Koreatown. I liked the authenticity of the bubble tea I had in Pasadena. I liked that there were lemon and avocado trees lining the streets in Highland Park. I love the yoga classes everywhere. I liked that I figured out how to get around.

But I don’t know if I could ever get past the “just visiting” phase.

When I was in NYC and mentioned to people that I was going to LA, everyone had to weigh in on it. “I hate LA,” was the most common refrain I heard. The answers were various: the traffic, the lack of seasons, the business, the weather. But you wonder sometimes if there’s something de rigeur, knee-jerk in that reaction. Like, “I’m a New Yorker and therefore I disdain LA.”

And the thing is? The reverse seems to be true too. It’s not, “I hate New York” it’s “I couldn’t live in New York”, but the sentiment remains. Why? “The weather, the expense, the lack of space.” Or really, “I’ve moved here. Therefore I’ve evolved.”

I’m wondering, is it really an either/or? Or can you actually be a New Yangeleno and embrace both?

i was born and raised in new york city and now i live in a quiet little college town in california. both are so wildly different, i guess it's hard to say. it only takes me a day or two to get back in the rhythm of the city when i go home to visit, and it takes just a little longer to aclimate when i come back here. i don't know if that makes any sense, but i kinda hear what you're saying. people are really adaptable, at least they should be. i think it's possible to be both.

Alexa,
I travel a lot….I mean a lot! Home is a sphere of comfort around me…wherever I am staying. Each place that I travel has its own persona…and vibe. Depending on my personal situation some fit better at a given moment in time then others. As you well know.
LA might not fit now but ........?

long time reader, first time poster :)

I know that personally, I could NEVER be a New Yangeleno. New York is too crowded, dirty (no offense or anything) and too fast paced for my west-coast brain. Although technically I would be considered a New Yangeleno? (Mom is from NY, dad is from LA, I was born in Seattle...) I think I feel the same as you Alexa, just with the cities switched--I love to visit NY, I could just never live there. But to each his own! I can see how it would be the opposite :)

Maybe you're just a citizen of the world. Maybe your spirit is just so wild, it cant be tamed and limited to just one area of residence. The fact that you like both places and wont limit yourself to just one is very mature and open-minded. So applaud yourself for not limiting your choices! But just remember, no matter how far you go, your home will always be with the one that has your heart.

New Yorkers are a little more practical but most of the world's culture comes out of LA ( save it - I don't want to hear about Paris or Tokyo, I am talking real modern culture ) and therefore LA always feels a little out of touch, kind of like being at the center of a black hole would be because they have no idea what is going on outside. They create culture and it fluctuates with fashions so therefore really have none of their own. NY has an identify and LA only has a location ... if you can even find that. Actual LA is a demilitarized zone. If you're young and single, NY is better because you can get nailed any time you want. You can in LA too, but only in the Valley during a porn shoot.

P.S. Lived in both places ... live in neither of them now.

about me

I'm a twenty-something New York escort. I love Prada, Seven jeans, and Jimmy Choos. I'm also totally addicted to Starbucks' grande non-fat white mocha and working out.

So why am I writing this blog? I have an inner exhibitionist that just needs to be let out. I've always wanted to bare myself completely in front of strangers but have always been held back by fear.

As strange as it may sound, I've never really truly bared myself in front of any of my clients. For all that they've seen, they've never seen me be me. And for all that I've seen, I simply need to share it with you!

So why should you come? To be tantalized and teased. To get release by knowing the true me.

I promise that I won't bite, and if I do bite, I'll make sure you like it!
