Hi Alexa, I'm surprised that you have any kind of cash flow or credit issues. I'm no expert in the going rates in your profession, but I get the impression that $500+/hr in NY is not uncommon. If you worked 10 appointments a week, each of an average of 2 hours, this would be about $10,000 a week. If you worked about 40 weeks a year, this totals about $400,000. Since you're an independent, you presumably keep all of this money. Even after tax, it's around $300,000 a year. If you spend, say, $150,000 a year on a good lifestyle, this still leaves $150,000 in savings per year. I'm curious! Regards, Graham

Could you possible send a very low key email to your clients that just says:
We have been closed the past few months due to a death in the family, but we are now back open for business-Alexa? You could add something silly like new stock arriving daily ;-)

Just something that sounds like a normal business email?

Even though I'm an incurable shopaholic, it's not an immediate cash flow problem. But... I hate watching my funds shrink. Sort of like when you boys come out of cold pool. ;)

Also, this might be a good time to diversify and look at other things you can do, along with escorting, to get cash flow and activity going.

I think if you were to reply to the mails with a short note explaining that due to family problems you had to go out of state for awile would be fine.
Something along the lines of "I am so sorry I missed you. Due to the interference of real life I found that my family needed me to join them out of state for awhile. Just wanted to let you know that I am back in town and will be waiting for your next visit."
I don't think you should go in to too many details of why you were gone. Most guys may not want to know actually. The whole anonimity thing would be broken if you give too many details. Of course some will ask when they see you and you can answer them honestly then.

I agree with the other person who said a "Our business has reopened after an extended family emergency" type of email, but I would limit it's inital distribution to a few special clients. Word of mouth and referrals should help build you back up, as that's what built you in the first place, no?

I don't know much about your line of work but try not to focus on everything you have to do all at once. Take it one day at a time. I'm sure most of your loyal clients are still waiting for you and maybe even a little worried. I'm sure if you sent them a "business" type email, they'd be glad to hear from you.

B) Spending money sucks. Renting an apartment sucks worse as the good ones always give you a non-consensual romp when it comes to price. =|

C) My advice (un-needed, unwanted, and entirely unnecessary): get back into the ring, so to speak, with your old loyal client base. If they were loyal to you then, they should be loyal to you now and, as aforementioned, may be worried about you. Once you re-establish yourself as being back, methinks, you should be just fine. Heh. Listen to me; it's like I really know what I'm talking about here.....but I can try to fake it better than most girls can fake an organism. ;)

Glad you're back and working on pulling everything together. I'm with you on the shrinking funds: I've been unemployed since I got out of college (3 months now), thank God I still had some savings from the dotcom boom or I'd be homeless right now. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I agree with your friend though. Reboot and start over fresh.

As someone who sees escorts on a regular basis, I recommend replying to the e-mails that you received and explaining that due to a family emergency you were out of touch.

As far as calling clients, that is a stickier issue. I generally do not like receiving a call from an escort unless we have developed an understanding that it is ok.

I posted on my blog concerning this issue. Mores specifically, there is an escort who calls me frequently, and that it makes me uncomfortable because I am no longer really interested in being with her.

Regulars do move on, but may come back if addressed correctly.

From the picture updates you mentioned for your website, it sounds like you really want to be a model. There is no reason that you can't be both if you desire to model. With the wide range of modeling specialties these days you can do anything from being the girl who sits on the hood of cars for car magazines to retro-glamour modeling.

Glad that you are back and getting your life back into a normal routine.

About the rent problem, I never understood why anyone would want to live in NY, but hey, each to her/his own.
