Well, if you really want links bad, write something really dorky about software design, or video games, I will drop a link on slashdot.org, and your server will get so many links, hits a mirrors that you would have a linkgasm, assuming that links were somehow tied in some way to sexual pleasure, which they aren't, so really, its a stupid idea, but stoned at 5:45am, and still unable to sleep, one does tend to have a lot of these kinds of things...

I guess the number of links is an ego thing - no money in it. For what it is worth alexa, your site is much better than Belles.'

From what I can gather about Blogs in the brief amount of time I have spent reading them, it's all about entertainment - for the proprietor of the Blog and for the readers. Some Blog site proprietors decide to write books. Promoting a book is a lot of work and can be rewarding but seldom makes the author any money, unless they get picked forthe public speaking circuit, or someone decides to make a movie or TV series.

So just have fun and continue to entertain, an early Happy Birthday, and hope you get as many links as Belle if it means that much to you.

As someone else commented, Technorati (and other sites/services/toolbars that rank incoming links) are often inaccurate. I think your "Carnival of Sin" idea is a great traffic-builder and will pay off for you eventually.

Still, Belle started writing her blog BEFORE you did, so I don't think it matters that she rarely updates it anymore. She will also continue to get more links because she has published a book.

You would probably get more incoming links if you fixed the title of your blog and put the apostrophe where it belongs. If you're trying to "beat" Belle, that would be the easiest place to start.

The odds that I can help you out here are slim to bugger all, given my lack of time and lack of people I know ;) however, I'll be cheering you along at every added link. I'm positive!
