Alexa, online poker is addictive! I think I may have to go to Gambling Anonymous because I've lost a good amount of money playing those things, considering I'm a poor student on loans! On a brighter note, it's much better to find out about Candi's unkosher business ethics now than later. At least now you can end doing business with her. Some people are just so unethical! Her response just kills me! It shows your character by being able to handle the situation in such a mature manner. I would've called her out in a not so nice manner!

Finally, I ended up losing a couple hundred dollars playing poker online to some jackass who made a really stupid call and got lucky on the river.

On the one hand, I've been there -- many, many, many times.

On the other hand, when you're seething from strikes one and two, you probably oughtn't be playing poker. Tilt has been the undoing of better players than either of us.

Besides, look at the bright side: jackasses who make bad calls like that, over and over again, averaged over the many times they suck out and the many many more times they don't, are a big part of the reason why online poker is the money tree that it is.

Getting sucked out on...sucks.

However, although I don't know the details about the call your player made - maybe it really was stupid - it's a common misconception that calling to the river is a mistake among poker players. There are many situations in which the pot size will make even a slim draw profitable in the long run.

My sympathies. Sounds like it's time to treat yourself to a pick-me-up. Mine usually include vodka.

I agree with Daniel. You should treat yourself to a pick-me-up. And if you're gonna take his suggestion on the whole vodka thing, then you should take mine on the whole tub of Ben & Jerry's.

Good thing you don't live in SD where they advertise online poker on the evening news. (Our fox affiliate's transmitter is actually in Tijuana, so they can accept gambling/liquor ads w/out fear of retribution from the FCC.

FWIW, I hear some of those sites have bots in them that play by the odds and are making it much harder for regular people to win.
