A New York Escorts Confessions

Mindless Corporate Drones

I had so many big dreams in college. Majoring in English and Philosophy in a good New England liberal arts college tends to do that to you – fills your head with lofty ideas about how you can go out and make a real difference in this world. So when I decided to take a job in New York City after graduating, I felt like a sell-out. I wasn’t going to volunteer to help AIDS babies in South Africa nor was I going to travel around Europe or Asia, as some of my friends did, to discover myself and the world. Instead, I was just going to work.

At least, I told myself that living and working in Manhattan would be exciting, especially since I’d somehow managed to land a job as an assistant to an editor at a fashion magazine. My interviews at the magazine are a complete blur, but I remember meeting so many beautiful people who all told me how great an experience it would be and how working as an assistant would lead to other even more amazing opportunities in the fashion industry. Of course, the occasional opportunities to get free samples from designers like Prada and Gucci also helped make the job sound fabulous!

Little did I know how painful working would be. Most of the editors required their assistants to serve their every whim and fancy; and my editor just happened to be queen bitch of the office! She only made me do menial tasks such as making copies, fetching dry cleaning or even taking her poodle to doggie day care. On top of this, my boss picked on me for the most minor infractions — “Alexa, why is the border 1/8 of an inch from the edge of the menu for my private party rather than 1/16 of an inch?” Or if her Starbucks latte wasn’t some imaginary, perfect temperature, she’d make me go and get a whole new cup. Some days, I went to Starbucks three or four times. Needless to say, all of this made for a very mind-numbing and painful experience.

I knew that this job was supposed to be hard and that rewards went to people who could endure the journey. If a light existed at the end of this tunnel, though, I couldn’t see it.

One night while handwriting “personal” thank you notes for my boss late into the night, I looked out of a window in the office and saw hundreds of other lighted windows with people working in their cubicles or offices. I realized that all of these people were just like me – mindless corporate drones serving their masters – and decided that I had to find something different and better…

Sounds like the Devil Wears Prada... you should write the follo-up and make millions with your bestseller! :)

Hi, what is the Devil Wears Prada? Well, I don't know if the devil actually wears Prada, but I can tell you that my boss was one hell of a she-devil!

The Devil Wears Prada is a book, not sure who wrote it. I never read it, but some of my friends said it was pretty good.

The Devil Wears Prada, by Lauren Weisberger. Oh yeah. Your story is the tip of the iceberg of what the "assistant" in this story went through. Perfect beach reading.

Ohmygod. I just finished reading the Devil Wears Prada. That book totally described my life, except that I didn't get to enjoy any of the glamorous perks such as trips to Paris or constantly consorting with celebs. I loved how Andrea told her boss to fuck off though! =) Lauren did a great job of capturing what life is like in that business. Guess my ending is different from hers though...

Something about the multiple runs to Starbucks and having to apologize for margin sizes makes me think my dream job would actually not be so dreamy. Is Anna Wintour worth it ...?

Oh, and please, elaborate on the free samples!

I was just reading that, and I was so thinking the same thing... your experiences sound so much like the Devil Wears Prada... yeah i wanna hear more about those free samples!

My sympathies for the problems you faced with that editor. I assure you that not all of them are like that. We all go through the boss from hell sometime in our lives and there is nothing wrong with moving on from the position.

Did you ever consider working for a college or university?

Hi Alex,

wonderful blog and I spent almost my entire afternoon reading the stories and comments. Came across from Guy Brighton who linked you in his blog.

I don't really understand all the hype about the Devil wears Prada story. It's basically a smorgasbord of brand names. American Psycho uses pretty much the same stereotypes with a much better side story.

As to your little Russian experience, I think everything is said. I'm wondering how you possibly can have any doubt about not declining their job offer. You seem to be pretty smart, but this story raises some doubts...

Also, I personally enjoy skinny girls having smaller boobs. A sporty body with huge boobs always looks fake, so keep it as is.

about me

I'm a twenty-something New York escort. I love Prada, Seven jeans, and Jimmy Choos. I'm also totally addicted to Starbucks' grande non-fat white mocha and working out.

So why am I writing this blog? I have an inner exhibitionist that just needs to be let out. I've always wanted to bare myself completely in front of strangers but have always been held back by fear.

As strange as it may sound, I've never really truly bared myself in front of any of my clients. For all that they've seen, they've never seen me be me. And for all that I've seen, I simply need to share it with you!

So why should you come? To be tantalized and teased. To get release by knowing the true me.

I promise that I won't bite, and if I do bite, I'll make sure you like it!
